Maleny Soldiers Memorial Hospital has received a Commonwealth Government grant for eight sub-acute beds for inpatients. This is known as ‘slow stream rehabilitation’.
The grant provides the hospital with full time Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and Physiotherapist, in addition to Tim Bagshaw who will continue his normal visitations. The grant also provides access to Speech Pathology and a Dietician. Funding is for two to three years, although Nicole is confident it will become a permanent arrangement.
This is a great outcome as it allows locals to stay in a highly regarded local facility during what is often protracted rehabilitation treatment.
